According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), each year roughly nineteen million adults within the United States experience anxiety disorders — which include obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder (PD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder/social phobia, and specific phobias, such as fear of the outdoors (agoraphobia) or confined spaces (claustrophobia), among many others ​
5 Major types of Anxiety Disorders
There are many types of anxiety disorders. This is a list of the five most commonly diagnosed disorders.

When it comes to anxiety disorders teach type of anxiety has his own set of symptoms and treatments. It is important to remember that while some symptoms may overlap no two anxiety disorders are like


Obsessive-compulsive disorder OCD
As th name suggest, Obsessive-Compulsive disorder definitely has two components: 
  • Obsessions 
  • Compulsions 

Obsessions can be anything from a severe fear of germs to the placement of things around the home and many things in between.
The compulsions are what the person does to rid themselves of the obsessive thoughts. Someone who has obsessions about germs may ritually wash their hands or carry hand sanitizer everywhere they go. Someone who has obsessive thoughts about the placement of objects might arrange and rearrange your belongings until they belong just right. These obsessions and compulsions can become very intrusive and disruptive to the sufferers daily lives.

Generalize Anxiety Disorder
GAD is characterized by excessive persistent and unreasonable anxiety about everyday things like money, family, money and relationships sometimes even a thought for the day. They often can't give you a reason why they worry so much.
Suffers May describe it as a general feeling of restlessness or unease.
Everyone worries from time to time but GAD causes sufferers to hang on to Things that they worry about and internalize them.  While most people's anxiety about a situation would have subsided, a person with Gad will continue to worry.
People with mild Gad can function socially whereas someone with severe GAD may be completely debilitated, struggling to perform even the simplest daily activities.

Symptoms can include:
  • edginess
  • restlessness
  • difficulty Concentrating
  • irritability.
Psychological symptoms can also lead to physical manifestations like:
  • Digestive problems,
  • muscle soreness or
  • aches from excessive muscular tension.
  • Difficulty sleeping is a common symptom which can lead to chronic fatigue.
​According to the DSM-5, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by:
  1. excessive anxiety present more days than not for 6 months
  2. a person finds it hard to control their anxiety
  3. an adult must have three or more of the previous symptoms I mentioned
  4. the anxiety causes impairment in daily life
  5. is not caused by medication drug abuse or due to a medical condition such as hyperthyroidism
  6. there is it is cannot be better explained by another mental disorder
Causes:
It's unclear as to why some individuals develop generalized anxiety disorder
start be a combination of genetic and environmental factors because it is known to run in families.  
GAD is twice as prevalent in females than males

Treatment:

Treatment consists of psychotherapy or drugs what combination of both. cognitive psychotherapy teaches the individual how to think and behave In different ways and react differently to two situations were things that cause anxiety.
Benzodiazepines and antidepressants are the two main medications used to treat generalized anxiety disorder.
Social anxiety disorder
Social anxiety disorder experience panic attacks related to social situations this can manifest in a fear of public speaking, stage fright it can be so severe that it will prevent them from going into public altogether. People with a social anxiety disorder may also have symptoms of severe self-consciousness and a general fear of being around others. Someone with social anxiety may finds it hard to speak when other people are present even if they are not addressing the crowd as a whole.

Treatment:
Social anxiety is mainly treated by SSRIs (Antidepressants) and therapy.
